Future Club Rooms

And the merry-go-round continues! The Whittlesea Council has released its proposed Budget for 2013-14 (it is on their website for viewing).

The 2 grounds and car park for Woodland Waters has been allocated full funds and is expected to go ahead on schedule with tenders being awarded.

However- funding for Club Room facilities has been held over until the next budget.

Obviously we are completely disappointed in this news. It was not as we have been lead to believe in any of the meetings we attended.

We have decided- along with the cricket club to lodge an objection and work extremely hard to present a strong argument to the Council with hope of them changing the funding allocation before the Budget is voted on and passed.

We will keep all our players, members and sponsors updated throughout the process and please speak with any committee members if you can offer any assistance.

As you may all know, last year we started a strong campaign to urge Council to imporve the conditions at Schotters Road. We have been on a merry-go-round for years now with the Council not wanting to spend on our facilities as they are planning new grounds, however plans for new ground are put on the back burner and we are stuck with what we have.

We believe we have finally had some success and we are cautiously optimistic that we are now a priority of the Council.

Firstly, over the summer work is being done on the ground and drainage sytems around the oval. The Council understand our need to ensure Schotters Road remains in reasonable conditions for the entire season and that we need to train on it! Other smaller improvements have been agreed to, some we are still waiting on reports to be finalised however the main one of interest will be new and improved hot water services to be fitted before the season!

Council have also committed to building 2 new grounds and facilities in Woodland Waters. The work for the grounds has been put to tender and the design for the pavillion is also out for tender. Both tenders should be appointed in April. We have been asked to be involved in the planning of the Clubrooms and have attended meetings already.

We will keep players, supporters and sponsors informed of the progress as the year goes on and keep a strong eye of the Council Budget come July 1!
